    Job Overview:

    The Project Management Unit is seeking a skilled and registered Professional Civil Engineer to lead and manage engineering projects aimed at improving infrastructure efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This role involves designing, planning, operating, and maintaining civil engineering projects while ensuring compliance with standards and codes of practice.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (NQF Level 7)

    • Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Civil Engineer

    • Valid driver’s license (except for persons with disabilities)

    • Demonstrated competencies in project management, engineering design, legal compliance, and technical report writing

    • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design innovative systems to solve engineering challenges, enhance efficiency, and improve safety

    • Plan, design, operate, and maintain engineering projects and infrastructure

    • Develop cost-effective engineering solutions aligned with standards and norms

    • Evaluate and update technical manuals, standard drawings, and procedures incorporating new technology

    • Prepare tender specifications and approve engineering work according to regulations

    • Supervise, mentor, and develop technicians, technologists, and candidate engineers

    • Manage resources, budgeting, and performance for engineering teams

    • Ensure adherence to procurement and personnel administration policies

    • Monitor project expenditure and service delivery, reporting accordingly

    • Maintain continuous professional development by researching new engineering technologies

    • Liaise with relevant councils and professional bodies on engineering matters
