Job Overview
Curro Holdings is seeking a qualified and experienced FET phase teacher to teach Consumer Studies to Grades 10–12 learners. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned with the Curro and IEB curriculum standards.
The role focuses on effective knowledge transfer, skills development, and fostering positive learning attitudes through structured, engaging, and differentiated teaching methods. The teacher will also contribute to academic planning, assessment, classroom management, and learner support initiatives.
Key Performance Areas
1. Teaching & Academic Planning
Plan and deliver lessons using modern teaching tools and methodologies.
Develop and manage term plans aligned with exams, assessments, and school activities.
Create differentiated learning materials to address barriers to learning.
Establish baseline assessments and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
2. Assessment & Learner Development
Design and manage formal and continuous assessments.
Moderate, supervise, and review learner assessments and homework.
Track academic progress and measure improvement.
Provide extra lessons and one-on-one tutoring support when necessary.
3. Classroom & Discipline Management
Organize and manage classroom layout and environment for optimal learning.
Develop and maintain assessment rosters.
Implement disciplinary procedures aligned with school policies.
Maintain effective communication with learners and parents.
4. Extramural & School Involvement
Plan and manage extramural activities and educational outings.
Contribute positively to school culture and community engagement.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
BEd degree and/or PGCE in FET phase education.
Honours degree in Education (relevant subject) – advantageous.
Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching in the FET phase.
Knowledge of the IEB curriculum.
Registered with SACE.
Clear criminal record.
Strong facilitation, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
Excellent communication, organisational, and planning skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when required.
