Job Purpose
This role focuses on managing electrical maintenance and infrastructure for government buildings.
You will oversee planned and emergency maintenance, ensure compliance with regulations, manage contractors, and support property and facility operations.
Minimum Requirements
Option 1:
3-year tertiary qualification (NQF 6) in Electrical Engineering
Relevant technical experience
Option 2:
N3 Certificate + Trade Test (Electrician)
3–5 years’ experience in electrical maintenance
Other Requirements:
Valid driver’s license
Computer literacy
Willingness to travel and work irregular hours

OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
PFMA (Public Finance Management Act)
National Building Regulations
Government procurement systems
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Good communication (written and verbal)
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Technical Work
Handle planned and unplanned electrical maintenance
Inspect electrical installations and equipment
Ensure all systems comply with electrical standards
Inspections & Reporting
Inspect leased buildings and report on conditions
Monitor water meter readings and consumption
Compile technical reports and monthly reports
Project & Contract Management
Prepare scope of work and cost estimates
Assist with tender documentation
Verify and certify contractor invoices
Compliance & Property Management
Ensure compliance with OHSA and regulations
Manage electrical aspects of property maintenance
Ensure efficient use of electrical systems
Work Environment & Expectations
Government infrastructure and facilities environment
Combination of office work, site inspections, and fieldwork
Involves working with contractors and multiple departments
May require travel and irregular working hours
