Job Purpose
This role focuses on monitoring and regulating water use efficiency within municipalities and water institutions in the Free State.
You will ensure compliance with national water legislation, support water conservation programmes, and oversee systems that track water usage, losses, and efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
A 4-year degree (or equivalent) in:
Environmental Management, or
Natural Sciences
Minimum 6 years post-qualification experience in:
Water services management/regulation, or
Water use efficiency
Valid driver’s license (required)
Experience in the No Drop Programme (advantage)

Key Responsibilities
Water Regulation & Monitoring
Monitor compliance with water use efficiency standards
Assess water losses and non-revenue water
Oversee implementation of Water Conservation & Demand Management (WC/WDM) programmes
Reporting & Analysis
Compile reports with findings and recommendations
Analyse IWA water balance data
Prepare presentations for management and stakeholders
Programme & Compliance Management
Support and monitor the No Drop regulatory programme
Ensure corrective action plans are implemented
Monitor data captured in the Integrated Regulatory Information System (IRIS)
Stakeholder Support & Training
Provide regulatory input for training programmes
Assist municipalities and water institutions with compliance
Administration & Management
Assist with budgeting and procurement
Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
Supervise and manage junior staff
