Job Overview
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in ensuring efficient store operations, driving sales, building customer loyalty, and maintaining high service standards. This role is responsible for day-to-day store management, staff supervision, operational control, and delivering the brand promise through exceptional customer service and merchandising.
This position is ideal for someone with retail/FMCG experience who is ready to step into a leadership role and help drive performance across the store.
Job Description
Sales & Financial Performance
Support the Store Manager in achieving financial targets
Drive sales through promotional execution, upselling, and cross-selling
Ensure monthly sales and profit targets are met
Operational Management
Execute operational activities including expenses, stock management, shrinkage control, housekeeping, and administration
Ensure compliance with company procedures and operational standards
Merchandising & Visual Standards
Ensure in-store visual merchandising and promotional standards are consistently met
Maintain store appearance aligned with Clicks brand image
Staff Supervision & Leadership
Support the Store Manager in motivating and managing staff performance
Provide leadership and direction in the Store Manager’s absence
Assist with staff scheduling in line with labour policy
Customer Service & Loyalty
Implement customer service initiatives that improve customer experience
Drive customer loyalty and Clicks Clubcard participation targets
Promote a customer-first culture
Administration & HR Compliance
Ensure weekly time and attendance records and employee documentation are complete and submitted to HR
Manage administrative tasks efficiently
Brand Values & Culture
Promote and drive Clicks values and customer service standards
Support a high-performance store culture
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
Essential: Grade 12 (Maths 50% and English 50%)
Essential: Relevant Retail/Business Management qualification (External applicants)
Desirable: Degree in Retail/Business Management
Minimum 1 year experience in assistant store management or completion of Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme
Financial management experience (budgets, P&L, financial ratios)
