    Summary:

    This is a senior nursing management position responsible for overseeing Primary Health Care (PHC) services in the Mangaung Metro District. The Assistant Manager ensures PHC re-engineering, quality improvement, compliance to Ideal Clinic standards, and monitoring of district health programs. The role requires extensive PHC experience, strong leadership, and the ability to oversee both clinical and non-clinical performance indicators across multiple facilities.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Diploma/Degree in Nursing (SANC-registered Professional Nurse)

    • 1-year post-basic qualification in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment & Care (PHC)

    • 10 years nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse

    • 6 years post-qualification experience in PHC (after obtaining the PHC post-basic)

    • 3 years management experience

    • Valid driver’s licence

    • Ability to travel extensively and work under pressure

    • Strong leadership, communication, and data analysis skills

    • Knowledge of financial management

    • Computer literacy

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the re-engineering and strengthening of Primary Health Care systems

    • Oversee Ideal Clinic Realisation and Maintenance (ICRM) compliance across facilities

    • Monitor performance of priority health programs based on APP and AOP targets

    • Manage and provide oversight of PHC program implementation

    • Work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure quality clinical service delivery

    • Conduct quality improvement audits, surveys, and assessments

    • Provide expert advice on quality care across the district

    • Produce monthly performance reports for senior management

    • Monitor both clinical and non-clinical standards regularly

    • Represent the district at provincial forums on Quality, Finance, and Key Priority Programs
