    Summary:

    This is a mid–senior management post responsible for implementing, supervising, and maintaining the Department’s Risk Management Framework. The role involves identifying, analysing, and monitoring risks, overseeing risk mitigation activities, managing the departmental risk register, and promoting a strong risk management culture. The incumbent supervises risk staff and ensures compliance with government risk management frameworks and standards.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A three-year Bachelor’s degree/qualification at NQF Level 7 with Risk Management, Auditing or Internal Auditing as major subjects.

    • 2–3 years’ experience in Risk Management or Internal Auditing.

    • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of Risk Management strategies and systems.

    • Experience using Risk Management software.

    • Practical experience in risk identification, analysis, monitoring, and reporting.

    • Valid driver’s licence (except for persons with disabilities).

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    Risk Management Implementation

    • Implement and supervise the departmental Risk Management Framework.

    • Participate in the development, updating, and enhancement of risk management policies, strategies, and plans.

    • Promote and maintain a risk-aware culture across the organisation through training and awareness initiatives.

    • Conduct risk maturity assessments and ensure high-quality data collection.

    Risk Identification, Analysis & Monitoring

    • Collect, analyse, and interpret statistical risk indicators.

    • Detect and track changes in internal and external risk environments.

    • Facilitate risk identification, risk analysis, risk evaluation, and risk response processes.

    • Maintain and update the departmental Risk Register and compile required risk profiles and reports.

    • Monitor progress on risk mitigation activities and recommend revisions where needed.

    Data & Systems Management

    • Supervise the capturing of risk information and ensure the integrity of risk databases.

    • Oversee studies and assessments to ensure accurate context-setting for risk identification.

    Supervision & Team Leadership

    • Allocate tasks to subordinates and perform quality assurance on outputs.

    • Provide guidance and leadership to the risk management team.

    • Manage performance, conduct, and discipline.

    • Ensure that supervisees receive adequate training and professional development.
