Introduction
Tumaini Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a leading mining client in the Free State who is seeking an experienced Mine Manager to join their open-pit operation. This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, productive, and legally compliant mining activities, aligned with operational, technical, and strategic objectives.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:

Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering

Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (MMCC)
Experience:
-
Minimum 15 years operational mining experience in open-pit environments
-
At least 5 years’ experience in a 3.1(a) Legal Appointment

Proven leadership and technical management experience in large-scale mining operations
Role Overview
The successful candidate will oversee all mine management functions within the open-pit environment, including:

Ensuring compliance with the Mine Health & Safety Act and all regulatory requirements

Managing production targets, operational efficiency, and mining schedules

Leading and directing multi-disciplinary mining teams

Driving safety, risk management, and environmental stewardship

Optimizing resources and ensuring cost-effective operation

Supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence

Ensuring all legal, technical, and organisational standards are met
