Job Overview: Adviser AIFA – Everyday Banking (FAIS)

Absa is looking for a FAIS-licensed Financial Adviser to deliver holistic financial planning solutions within the Everyday Banking division. The role involves conducting detailed financial needs analyses, providing compliant financial advice, building strong client relationships, and implementing Absa-approved financial products across investments, life insurance, and estate planning.
This position requires a professional, ethical adviser who can grow a financial portfolio, meet sales targets, and maintain full FAIS Fit and Proper status while contributing to Absa’s bancassurance model.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Financial Planning

Conduct the full six-step financial planning process.

Professionally introduce services and secure client consent for Financial Needs Analysis (FNA).

Use Absa’s tools (Avalon from Aug 2024) to assess client needs in:

Investments
-
Life Insurance
-
Estate Planning
-
-
Present compliant advice and product recommendations.

Implement accepted financial solutions through Absa’s onboarding and new business processes.

Conduct annual portfolio reviews and ongoing client check-ins.
Relationship Management & Stakeholder Engagement

Build strong professional relationships with:

Clients
-
Absa branch staff
-
Regional Managers
-
Product providers
-
Adviser support teams

Attend meetings, networking events, and bancassurance activities to identify leads and grow business.

Provide feedback to Regional Managers on sales pipelines and lead conversion.
Sales Target Achievement

Plan sales activity and identify clients from leads, referrals, and personal prospecting.

Use client data and signed consents to obtain existing policy information.

Recommend appropriate product solutions and complete all documents (applications, FICA, CAR recording).

Submit business to product providers and ensure issued policies align with recommendations.

Meet growth and sales targets while driving cross-selling opportunities.
Commission & Portfolio Management

Capture correct PRI numbers on commission systems.
-
Verify monthly commission statements for accuracy.

Manage premium lapses, unpaid premiums, and client database updates.

Clear suspense accounts and maintain proper compliance documentation.
Practice Management & Leadership Support

Give clear guidance to support staff and advisers-in-training.

Provide coaching, mentoring, and ensure operational readiness.

Manage performance development (PD) processes.

Uphold FAIS, FICA, FSB, and Absa compliance standards.

Maintain systems, equipment, and internal controls within the practice.
Personal Development & Compliance

Complete FAIS, compliance, and internal training programs within specified timelines.

Maintain Fit and Proper status (honesty, integrity, financial soundness).

Obtain required product accreditations and meet CPD requirements.

Participate in business development efforts to grow sustainability of the adviser practice.
Minimum Requirements

FAIS-relevant qualification and regulatory credits (or working toward completion).

Ability to achieve and maintain FAIS Fit and Proper status.
