Curro Holdings, a leading independent education provider in South Africa, is seeking a passionate and dedicated FET Phase Consumer Studies Teacher to join the high school team at Curro Bloemfontein. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning in Consumer Studies, applying learner-centered methods, and maintaining an innovative and supportive classroom environment.
This role requires a teacher committed to academic excellence, modern teaching methodologies, and holistic learner development.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Deliver high-quality FET phase Consumer Studies lessons using modern, learner-centered approaches.
Develop lesson plans, worksheets, and teaching resources aligned with Curro’s curriculum requirements.
Facilitate knowledge transfer, skills acquisition, and the development of positive learner attitudes.
Assessment & Academic Planning
Prepare, manage, and adjust term plans to align with school activities, exams, and learner needs.
Design and administer baseline assessments to determine learner proficiency and needs.
Implement both formal and continuous assessments, including setting, marking, and moderating tasks.
Track learner progress and implement catch-up or remedial programs where necessary.
Classroom & Learner Management
Organize and manage the classroom for optimal learning and discipline.
Maintain clear communication with learners and parents regarding progress, expectations, and support.
Supervise homework, conduct revision sessions, and provide one-on-one academic support.
Extramural & Enrichment Activities
Plan and manage extramural activities, outings, and subject-related events.
Provide extra lessons and tutoring support when needed.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
BEd Degree OR
BA/BSc + PGCE specializing in FET Phase Education.
Honours degree in Education (advantageous).
Minimum 3 years FET phase teaching experience.
Strong knowledge of the IEB curriculum.
Must be SACE-registered with a clear criminal record.
Skills & Competencies
Strong facilitation and learner engagement skills.
Excellent planning, organisational, and time-management abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital learning tools.
Effective communication (written and verbal).
Strong problem-solving and report-writing skills.
Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and participate in school activities.
