Project Objective
The objective is to appoint a qualified service provider to manage and maintain the Harrismith and QwaQwa landfill sites for a period of three years while ensuring:
- Effective landfill operations
- Environmental compliance
- Proper waste disposal
- Health and safety compliance
- Maintenance of landfill infrastructure and equipment
Scope of Work
The successful bidder will be responsible for:
- Managing daily landfill operations
- Maintaining landfill infrastructure and machinery
- Providing operational machinery and resources
- Implementing environmental and safety procedures
- Developing project plans and operational procedures
- Ensuring compliance with waste management regulations
Technical Requirements
Bidders must provide proof of ownership or lease agreements for machinery including:
- 20-ton landfill compactors
- 20-ton bulldozers
- 20-ton excavators
- Front-end loaders
- 10m³ tipper trucks
- 10,000-litre water tankers
Additional requirements include:
- Detailed project plans and timelines
- CVs and qualifications of key personnel
- Health and Safety documentation
- Environmental compliance capability
- Evidence of previous similar projects
Skills & Personnel Requirements
The bidder must demonstrate:
- Experience in landfill and waste management operations
- Environmental compliance expertise
- Operational planning capabilities
- Qualified project managers with engineering or environmental qualifications
- Registered Health and Safety Officers (Saiosh or equivalent)
- Qualified access control personnel
- Ability to manage machinery, personnel, and site operations effectively
