     Job Overview

    The Logistics Controller is responsible for the effective management and control of inventory within the Distribution Centre to ensure On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery of quality products while achieving financial and operational targets.

    The role acts as the site-level Super User of the Warehouse Management System (WMS), ensuring accurate system management, stock integrity, compliance with audit requirements, and adherence to quality and risk standards.

    This position plays a critical role in maintaining stock accuracy, minimizing losses, supporting distribution operations, and enabling high levels of customer service within a fast-paced FMCG logistics environment.

    Job Description

    Inventory Planning & Control

    • Monitor depot days of cover and manage stock availability.

    • Report and resolve stockouts with Planning and Sales teams.

    • Conduct ABC analysis to determine optimal storage allocation.

    • Prepare and manage monthly physical stock counts.

    • Minimize write-offs, breakages and stock losses.

    • Ensure effective stock rotation and adherence to FEFO principles.

    Warehouse Management System (WMS) Custodian

    • Act as Super User for the Warehouse Management System.

    • Prepare system for stock takes and upload stock count data.

    • Investigate and resolve stock variances through root cause analysis.

    • Post authorised stock adjustments and maintain audit documentation.

    Quality & Risk Management

    • Conduct routine quality inspections in the Distribution Centre.

    • Ensure compliance with stock age policy and product recall procedures.

    • Manage documentation in line with ICC and audit requirements.

    • Monitor and enforce stacking height and safety standards.

    • Conduct risk audits and ensure stock loss control procedures are maintained.

    Distribution Control (Primary & Secondary)

    • Ensure all post goods issues are processed accurately.

    • Reconcile invoices, deliveries, and proof of delivery documents daily.

    • Monitor inter-depot movements and follow up on in-transit shipments.

    • Log and manage inter-depot claims.

    • Ensure all gate registers and shipment documentation are properly filed.

    Missing, Broken & Foreign Stock Management

    • Conduct and capture required surveys.

    • Communicate discrepancies for follow-up with customers.

    • Charge responsible parties (depots, drivers, 3PLs) for shortages where applicable.

    Financial & Operational Control

    • Ensure stock postings are allocated to correct accounts.

    • Compile variance commentary and trend analysis reports.

    • Identify and escalate high-risk loss incidents.

    • Monitor operational cost efficiency and support EBIT targets.

    People Management (Where Applicable)

    • Support recruitment and manpower planning.

    • Identify training and development needs.

    • Provide on-the-job coaching and mentoring.

    • Manage time and attendance administration.

    • Conduct performance appraisals and ensure adherence to company policies and standards.
