Job Description

The appointed contractor will be responsible for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a new extraction hood system for the Lethabo Power Station canteen. The contractor will provide all labour, materials, equipment, supervision, and quality management necessary to complete the project.

The contractor must ensure that all work complies with Eskom’s technical specifications, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements, and an ISO 9001-compliant Quality Management System (QMS).

Key Responsibilities

• Supply a new extraction hood system for the canteen.
• Remove and dispose of the existing extraction hood where required.
• Install the new extraction hood and associated mechanical equipment.
• Install supporting ducting, ventilation components, and accessories as specified.
• Test and commission the extraction system to ensure proper operation.
• Supply all labour, materials, tools, plant, and equipment required for the project.
• Prepare and implement a documented Quality Management System (QMS).
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management requirements.
• Conduct quality inspections throughout the project.
• Monitor workmanship and compliance with Eskom specifications.
• Manage subcontractors and externally supplied materials where applicable.
• Preserve and protect materials and equipment during installation.
• Identify, record, and resolve quality non-conformances.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement risk mitigation measures.
• Maintain health and safety standards on site.
• Complete all required Eskom quality documentation, including Form A.
• Participate in quality audits and inspections.
• Maintain project records, reports, and installation documentation.
• Ensure the project is completed within the agreed timeframe.
• Handover the fully operational extraction hood system upon completion.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Valid CIDB Grade 2 ME registration or higher.
• Experience in mechanical installation and ventilation systems.
• Ability to supply and install commercial extraction hood systems.
• Compliance with Eskom’s quality, health, and safety requirements.
• Submission of all required tender documentation.
• Ability to complete the work within the required project schedule.
