Responsibilities:

Oversee smooth daily operation of kitchen production
-
Ensure consistency in preparation and presentation of all menu items
-
Monitor inventory, communicate stock needs to the catering manager
-
Enforce portion control and storage standards to minimize waste and reduce costs
-
Support food preparation across all production areas in line with menu cycles
-
Assist in completing documentation (wastage logs, cleaning records, stock sheets)
-
Conduct or assist in regular stock takes and maintain accurate temperature records
-
Analyse and manage unit costs effectively
-
Record and help reduce food wastage
-
Provide training, coaching, and development support to kitchen team
-
Assist with other duties as required in a cooperative and professional manner
Qualifications:
-
Matric (compulsory)
-
Tertiary qualification in food and beverage services or culinary arts (compulsory)
-
Minimum 2 years’ progressive kitchen/management experience (compulsory)
-
WorkSmart system knowledge (essential)
-
Computer literate
-
Experience in stock control, ordering, and receiving
Skills and Competencies:

Strong understanding of the catering environment (fine dining to commercial)

Knowledge of South African and industry-specific laws
-
Strong management and communication skills
-
Cost-conscious with attention to detail
