Responsibilities:

Lead the nursing unit in the delivery of high-quality, therapeutic mental health care

Supervise nursing staff, manage scheduling, staffing, and team development

Oversee clinical assessments, care planning, and patient outcome evaluations
-
Conduct risk assessments and implement safety and risk management strategies
-
Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other interdisciplinary team members
-
Monitor quality improvement initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance

Support staff training and professional development

Manage crisis intervention and de-escalation within the unit

Advocate for patient rights and ensure confidentiality and dignity of care
Qualifications:
-
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science (compulsory)

Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)

Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience in a psychiatric/mental health setting

Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities

Knowledge of mental health laws, ethical care standards, and accreditation policies
