Introduction
GP Consult is seeking a qualified Electrical Reticulation Technician or Engineer to oversee the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of medium- and low-voltage (MV/LV) electrical reticulation systems. This role combines technical design and field supervision, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and delivery of safe, reliable, and cost-effective power infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Planning

Design and implement MV/LV electrical reticulation systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Prepare detailed electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, load schedules, and cable sizing calculations.

Ensure designs comply with SANS, NRS, Eskom, and municipal standards and specifications.
Project Execution

Supervise on-site installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.

Conduct quality control inspections and ensure adherence to safety and technical requirements.

Support procurement by preparing technical specifications and evaluating supplier proposals.
Coordination & Communication

Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities for project approvals and verification.

Maintain clear, detailed project documentation, including drawings, reports, and test results.
Health, Safety & Environment

Enforce compliance with HSE standards and promote safe work practices on all project sites.
Required Qualifications & Experience

National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current / Power Systems).

3–5 years’ experience in electrical reticulation, power distribution, or infrastructure projects.

Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, and relevant electrical design tools.

Strong understanding of MV/LV systems, reticulation layouts, and municipal approval processes.

Experience with underground cabling, overhead lines, transformers, and distribution boards.

Familiar with SANS, NRS, and Eskom standards.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects independently and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to sites as needed.
