Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Casual Cashier to join its Northridge Mall store in Bloemfontein. The successful candidate will support customer service at the point of sale while ensuring an efficient, accurate and professional shopping experience.
The role involves processing customer transactions, handling payments and cash, assisting with returns and exchanges, promoting loyalty programmes and following Dis-Chem’s policies and security procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional and friendly customer service.
- Process purchases and all accepted forms of payment accurately.
- Process refunds, returns and exchanges when authorised.
- Operate the cash register and maintain the cash drawer.
- Process loyalty cards and rewards programmes.
- Ensure cash is safely secured according to company procedures.
- Ensure all line voids and price changes are properly authorised.
- Stay informed about current promotions and sales.
- Address customer queries regarding merchandise.
- Report customer complaints, compliments and suspicious behaviour to management.
- Ensure all outgoing stock and items are scanned and paid for.
- Protect personal till codes and passwords.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling daily takings.
- Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service, security and operational procedures.
- Help maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- At least 6 months’ cashier or till-operation experience.
- Computer literacy, including MS Office.
- Sound numerical skills.
- Strong command of English.
- Basic customer service skills.
- Ability and willingness to work retail hours.
