Job Description
The successful contractor will be responsible for upgrading the existing oxidation pond system at Edenville. The project includes constructing new wastewater treatment infrastructure, rehabilitating existing ponds, installing associated civil works, improving operational facilities, and ensuring compliance with engineering, environmental, and health and safety standards.
The contractor will provide all labour, materials, equipment, supervision, and project management required to complete the works while promoting local labour participation and enterprise development through labour-intensive construction methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct new inlet works, including screening and grit removal facilities.
- Install flow measurement systems.
- Construct two new anaerobic ponds with HDPE lining.
- Install sludge draw-off and sludge management systems.
- Upgrade and reshape existing oxidation ponds.
- Convert existing ponds to meet aerobic and facultative treatment requirements.
- Construct chlorination channels.
- Upgrade the maturation pond.
- Construct sludge drying beds.
- Build stormwater diversion channels.
- Upgrade access roads within the treatment works.
- Construct berms and erosion protection structures.
- Install perimeter security fencing and access gates.
- Construct an operations building.
- Provide staff facilities and training areas.
- Supply all construction materials, labour, plant, and equipment.
- Supervise construction teams and subcontractors.
- Ensure quality assurance and quality control throughout the project.
- Implement Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.

Site Agent
- National Diploma in Civil Engineering (NQF Level 5).
- Registered with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience.
Foreman
- NQF Level 4 qualification.
- Relevant civil construction experience.
Construction Manager
- Competent and registered in accordance with Construction Regulations.
- Full-time appointment for the duration of the project.
Safety Officer
