Job Purpose
The Senior Engineer Professional Electrical is responsible for developing, supporting, and implementing technology strategies, engineering processes, technical standards, specifications, and designs. The role provides specialist engineering expertise in electrical systems, asset management, maintenance, and technology development to support operational excellence within Eskom.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Consulting and Engineering Support
- Provide specialist technical consulting services to internal and external customers.
- Investigate engineering-related challenges and recommend solutions.
- Support operational and maintenance teams with technical expertise.
- Conduct technical evaluations and engineering assessments.
Engineering Design and Asset Creation
- Develop and integrate engineering solutions and designs.
- Produce electrical engineering designs and specifications.
- Support asset creation and infrastructure development projects.
- Ensure engineering solutions comply with industry standards and regulations.
Standards, Procedures and Governance
- Develop discipline-specific technical standards and specifications.
- Create and maintain engineering procedures and work practices.
- Ensure compliance with engineering codes and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering discipline.
Technology Development and Innovation
- Conduct research into new and emerging technologies.
- Evaluate new products, equipment, and materials.
- Contribute to discipline-specific technology roadmaps.
- Recommend innovative solutions to improve performance and reliability.
Change and Product Management
- Manage technical change processes.

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Degree
- NQF Level 8 qualification with 480 credits
Professional Registration
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant engineering experience.
- Experience in electrical engineering technologies and technical environments.
