Job Description
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Shift Manager in overseeing daily Cold Store operations. The role focuses on ensuring accurate stock handling, maintaining operational standards, coordinating logistics activities, supervising employees, ensuring system accuracy, and maintaining safety, hygiene, and housekeeping standards within the cold storage facility.
The successful candidate will ensure that stock movements, documentation, inventory records, and loading activities are completed accurately and efficiently while maintaining compliance with company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Control and Inventory Management
- Ensure the correct stock is loaded according to customer orders.
- Verify that all stock documentation is accurate and complete.
- Participate in weekly and monthly stock takes.
- Assist with variance investigations and stock reconciliations.
- Participate in mock recall exercises.
- Ensure accurate inventory records are maintained.
Operational Supervision
- Support the Shift Manager in supervising shift operations.
- Ensure all employees comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor daily operational activities and workflow.
- Ensure operational efficiency throughout the shift.
Logistics and Dispatch Coordination
- Schedule and coordinate trucks with transport service providers.
- Monitor loading schedules and dispatch activities.
- Ensure loading operations are completed accurately and on time.
- Invoice trucks using Translution and Syspro systems.
Inspections and Quality Control
- Conduct hourly inspections of:
- Holding rooms
- Racking systems
- Temperature control systems
- Inspect loading areas daily.
- Inspect trucks, forklifts, and reach trucks.
- Monitor operational compliance and equipment condition.
Administration and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate Cold Store files and records.
- Ensure reports are completed and updated regularly.
- Verify that Translution balances correctly with Syspro daily.
- Ensure documentation is accurate and readily available.
Housekeeping, Safety and Hygiene
- Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Promote hygiene standards within the Cold Store environment.
- Monitor employee compliance with safety procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum Matric (Grade 12).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a freezer environment.
- Good physical health.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
