Job Title: Disaster and Risk Management Officer

Responsibilities:
-
Maintain inventory of hardware/software, user databases, and 3G card allocations
-
Support establishment and operation of fodder banks for drought mitigation
-
Provide advisory support to farmers and depots on drought preparedness and recovery
-
Assist in the implementation of agricultural disaster aid and relief programs
-
Assess disaster impacts and contribute to relief scheme execution
-
Implement and disseminate Early Warning Information to stakeholders
-
Develop and lead capacity-building initiatives in municipalities and departments
-
Monitor stakeholder compliance with Early Warning advisories
-
Support mitigation efforts related to fire disasters and provide risk prevention advice
-
Represent the department at various disaster management forums
-
Liaise with national and provincial stakeholders in disaster and risk management
-
Compile reports, assist with policy inputs, and ensure compliance with public service regulations
Qualifications:
-
BSc Degree in Agriculture (NQF Level 8)
-
1–2 years of agricultural experience
-
Valid driver’s license
