Job Overview
Free State Oil (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Temporary Laboratory Analyst to join its operations in Villiers, Free State. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing soybeans and related by-products to ensure they meet the company’s quality standards and product specifications.
This role is ideal for candidates with laboratory experience who have strong analytical skills and a commitment to quality control, food safety, and accurate record-keeping.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Conduct laboratory testing of soybeans, raw materials, and by-products according to company specifications.
- Ensure all products meet quality standards to prevent financial losses.
- Perform daily quality testing of raw materials and finished products.
- Collect samples according to prescribed specifications and VKB standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all laboratory test results.
- Report any quality or testing issues to management.
- Keep the laboratory and testing equipment clean, organised, and well maintained.
- Comply with internal Quality Control policies and relevant legislation.
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Food Safety standards.
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure product quality and efficient service delivery.
- Successfully complete all training assigned by the direct manager.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
- Previous experience in a similar laboratory role (essential).
- Good mathematical and analytical skills.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
Advantageous Qualification
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Laboratory Science, Food Science, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.
