Job Overview
Crown Bag is seeking an experienced Flexographic Printing Operator to operate high-speed multicolour flexographic printing machines within its packaging manufacturing operations in Harrismith.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality printed packaging materials, maintaining printing equipment, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. This role is best suited to an experienced printing professional with a strong background in the printing and packaging industry.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Set up and operate multicolour flexographic printing machines.
- Mount and position stereos for production runs.
- Produce high-quality printed packaging materials according to specifications.
- Monitor print quality throughout production and make necessary machine adjustments.
- Read and interpret job cards and printing specifications.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure orders are completed on schedule.
- Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping of printing equipment.
- Carry out preventative maintenance on printing machines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical printing and machine issues.
- Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and workplace regulations.
- Maintain efficient production while meeting quality standards and deadlines.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a machine operator.
- Proven experience operating flexographic printing machines or working in a similar printing and packaging environment.
- Strong knowledge of multicolour flexographic printing processes.
- Knowledge of flexographic inks, stereo tapes, and Pantone colour systems.
- Ability to read and interpret production job cards and printing specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Physical ability to operate machinery and lift heavy printing equipment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to meet production deadlines.
