      Job Description

    The Utilityman Site is a semi-skilled, physically demanding role that supports construction and maintenance activities at a substation. The job involves a combination of manual labour, civil work, and basic electrical support tasks.

    The role focuses on ensuring that all site activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with construction and safety standards.

      Key Responsibilities

    • Perform manual labour duties such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and moving materials and equipment
    • Assist with civil construction work, including:
      • Shuttering
      • Concrete work
      • Reinforcement
    • Support electrical and cabling activities on-site
    • Use and maintain hand tools and power tools correctly
    • Keep the workplace clean, safe, and organized
    • Follow SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) policies and procedures
    • Assist with Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)
    • Work at heights when required
    • Be available for overtime work when necessary

      Requirements

     Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 (Matric)

     Experience:

    • 1–2 years’ experience in:
      • Construction or civil work
      • Electrical or technical environment

     Skills:

    • Good physical strength and stamina
    • Ability to use hand tools and power tools
    • Basic understanding of construction and cabling practices
    • Ability to work safely at heights
    • Good communication and teamwork skills
    • Time management and problem-solving ability

     Knowledge:

    • Basic understanding of construction/site procedures
    • Knowledge of workplace safety rules and regulations
    • Ability to identify and use tools and equipment
    • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
