Job Overview
The Store Manager is responsible for leading and managing a PEP store to achieve key business objectives, including driving sales, controlling costs, reducing stock loss, and maintaining world-class store standards. This role requires strong leadership to inspire, coach, and develop a high-performing store team while delivering an exceptional customer experience in line with PEP’s low-cost retail culture.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Experience
Drive sales performance by delivering excellent customer service.
Ensure world-class store standards and a well-maintained store image.
Implement promotional activities effectively to maximise sales opportunities.
Manage stock availability to meet customer demand.
Stock & Risk Management
Minimise stock loss through strong store discipline and adherence to security procedures.
Ensure correct stock and cash handling practices are followed at all times.
Foster a positive store culture that promotes accountability and integrity.
Cost Control
Manage store costs in line with PEP’s low-cost operating model.
Identify and implement efficiencies to improve store profitability.
Administration & Compliance
Ensure all store administration is completed accurately and in accordance with company guidelines.
Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and retail regulations.
People Management & Leadership
Lead, motivate, coach, and develop a dynamic team (“Dynamos”).
Manage staff performance, training, and development.
Create a positive, high-energy work environment that supports teamwork and accountability.
Health, Safety & Store Standards
Maintain high standards of health, safety, housekeeping, and cleanliness.
Ensure the store environment is safe for customers and employees.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
Grade 12 (Matric).
Proficiency in English.
A degree or diploma in a business or retail-related field will be an advantage.
Experience
Ideally 1–2 years’ experience in a retail environment in a leadership or supervisory role.
Skills & Competencies
Computer literacy (Microsoft and/or Google GSuite advantageous).
Strong planning, organising, leading, and controlling skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced retail environment.
Willingness to work retail hours.
