     Job Overview

    The Shift Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating production activities within an animal feed manufacturing plant. The role ensures that production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and cost controls are achieved during assigned shifts.

    This is a hands-on leadership role with accountability for plant performance, especially during night and weekend shifts.

     Job Purpose

    To lead and manage a production shift by coordinating staff, monitoring equipment, and ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing of animal feed in line with company standards and production targets.

     Key Responsibilities

     Production & Operations

    • Supervise full production process during assigned shift
    • Monitor equipment performance and production flow
    • Ensure production targets (volume, quality, uptime, cost) are met
    • Track and report downtime (man, machine, system)
    • Adjust workflow and resolve production issues

     Team Leadership

    • Lead and coordinate production staff
    • Assign tasks and monitor performance
    • Ensure staff understand expectations and targets
    • Manage shift handovers and communication

     Planning & Reporting

    • Monitor actual production vs planned targets
    • Complete shift production reports and records
    • Provide feedback in daily production meetings
    • Maintain accurate production documentation

     Safety & Compliance

    • Maintain safe and clean working environment
    • Ensure compliance with safety and company procedures
    • Report risks, incidents, and quality issues
    • Enforce operational and safety standards

     Quality Control

    • Identify and report quality problems
    • Maintain product quality standards
    • Enforce ISO-related systems and procedures

     Continuous Improvement

    • Monitor workflow efficiency and process control points
    • Implement improvements and cost-saving initiatives
    • Resolve equipment and process malfunctions

     Requirements

    • Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience in an animal feed plant
    • Hands-on technical or troubleshooting experience (advantageous)
    • Knowledge of ISO 14000, 14001, and 9001 systems
    • Experience leading a production team (feed industry preferred)
    • English literacy (reading and writing required)
    • Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends
