Job Overview
The successful candidates will be responsible for operating and monitoring processing equipment within the Production (Packaging) Department in Bloemfontein.
The role requires employees to operate equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintain production and quality standards, monitor production processes, assist with maintenance activities, and contribute to efficiency and cost-saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Operate, Monitor & Control Plant Processes
- Operate processing equipment such as pasteurizers, homogenizers and separators according to SOPs.
- Ensure production yield and throughput targets are achieved.
- Assist with efficiency improvements and reducing operating costs.
- Maintain accurate records of production volumes, yield, plant downtime, uptime and utility consumption.
- Participate in plant-cleanliness programmes and procedures.
- Monitor the usage and inventory of process chemicals and supplies.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure the integrity and quality of raw materials and finished products.
- Work closely with the laboratory to support the implementation of quality assurance procedures.
- Collect samples and conduct process-stream testing as required.
- Maintain accurate quality assurance records.
- Understand and interpret QA results and take appropriate corrective action when necessary.
Plant Maintenance & Safety
- Report equipment-related problems to the maintenance department.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities when required.
- Assist with diagnosing and troubleshooting maintenance-related problems.
- Follow required plant safety procedures and standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4.
- Relevant experience applying job-related concepts, techniques and processes at the required level.
- Fluent in Business English.
- Ability to work in extreme conditions.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Advantageous Qualification
A recognised qualification or trade certificate in one of the following fields will be highly advantageous:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Fitting
- Related Engineering discipline
