Job Overview
This role involves compiling accurate, fast-paced, and engaging radio news bulletins for a leading commercial radio station. You will work in a newsroom environment where deadlines are tight and storytelling must be sharp, clear, and audience-focused in both Afrikaans and English.
Key Responsibilities
News Compilation & Writing
- Compile daily news bulletins for radio broadcast
- Write clear, accurate, and engaging scripts
- Follow OFM’s editorial style guide and broadcast standards
Audio & Production Support
- Edit audio clips for broadcast use
- Assist in preparing content for on-air delivery
- Ensure content is ready for live transmission
Newsroom Coordination
- Work closely with journalists and editors
- Follow up on developing news stories
- Contribute to story development and accuracy checks
Reporting (Occasional)
- Step in as a reporter when required
- Gather and verify information for breaking news
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in:
- Journalism
- Communication
- Language studies (advantageous)
- Minimum 3 years’ newsroom experience (radio or print essential)
- Fluency in Afrikaans and English
