Job Overview:
Famous Brands Limited is seeking a dynamic and strategic New Business Manager to drive the expansion of its brand footprint across South Africa. This role is focused on identifying and securing new business opportunities, optimizing site development, and maintaining strong relationships with franchisees, landlords, and internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a key role in adapting to an evolving consumer market and leveraging geospatial and market intelligence to guide decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Growth & Site Development
Identify and secure new sites, especially in non-traditional areas, to expand brand presence
Study and respond to the changing consumer landscape with innovative format growth strategies
Drive site viability assessments using GIS tools, competitor analysis, brand proximity, and demographics
Develop and manage rollout schedules, proactively removing bottlenecks in the restaurant development process
Franchisee & Landlord Engagement
Assist franchisees and regional teams in relocations, rental negotiations, and rental benchmarking
Provide location-based insights and support rental reduction efforts
Act as the liaison between Landlords, Developers, and the New Business Department across multiple brands
Geospatial & Market Analysis
Co-ordinate GIS development and maintenance as a business intelligence tool
Integrate internal and external data (e.g., sales trends, LSMs, census data) into GIS
Continuously improve GIS-related processes and implementation
Create comprehensive site reports and business case presentations, including financial modelling, for internal and external stakeholders
Reporting & Communication
Provide regular project status updates and lead follow-up meetings with actionable insights
Prepare and deliver brand presentations on market segmentation, trading formats, and setup costs
Support executive-level reporting and respond to shifting priorities with agility
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Tertiary qualification required
BCom in Business or BSc in Property Science preferred
Experience:
Proven experience in retail or commercial real estate development
Strong track record in landlord negotiations, lease renewals, and property strategy
Experience reporting directly to executive leadership
Demonstrated success in site development, rental benchmarking, and project coordination
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
Deep understanding of real estate trends, market segmentation, and consumer behavior
Proficiency in GIS systems and geospatial analysis tools
