Job Description
As a Medical Registrar, you will provide clinical services across multiple patient care settings while undergoing structured training in your chosen specialty.
You will be involved in diagnosing and managing patients, assisting in procedures, participating in academic activities, and contributing to research. The role requires dedication, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Provide care to:
Inpatients
Outpatients
Emergency cases
Assist in diagnosis, treatment, and procedures within your specialty
Training & Development
Participate in specialist training programs
Attend academic sessions and clinical teaching
Work under supervision of senior specialists
Research & Teaching
Conduct and contribute to research projects
Assist in training junior staff and students
Administration & Operations
Perform medical administrative duties
Participate in commuted overtime
Support hospital service delivery
Outreach
Provide outreach services where required
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications & Registration
MBChB degree (or equivalent)
Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Independent Practitioner
Valid HPCSA registration for 2026
Experience
At least 1 year post community service experience
Experience in a Free State hospital (preferred)
Other Requirements
Valid driver’s license
South African citizen or permanent resident
Knowledge & Skills
Additional qualifications (advantage):
Primaries, diplomas, or certificates in relevant field
ACLS, ATLS, APLS, BSS
Strong clinical and analytical skills
Ability to work under pressure
Good communication and teamwork skills
