Job Description
This role involves the maintenance, repair, and servicing of agricultural machinery and vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
You will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing mechanical faults
- Performing repairs and servicing
- Carrying out preventative maintenance
- Ensuring equipment meets safety and operational standards
In simple terms: you keep farm machinery and vehicles running properly.
Key Responsibilities
1. Repairs & Maintenance
- Service, repair, and overhaul agricultural equipment
- Fix mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems
- Ensure machinery is fully operational and safe
2. Fault Diagnosis
- Identify mechanical issues and breakdowns
- Troubleshoot equipment problems
- Recommend repairs and solutions
3. Work Orders & Documentation
- Complete job cards and service sheets
- Follow company procedures and standards
- Compile quotations based on customer needs
4. Health & Safety Compliance
- Follow all safety regulations
- Ensure safe working practices
- Maintain compliance with company policies
5. Customer & Supplier Interaction
- Communicate with clients and suppliers
- Build and maintain working relationships
- Provide feedback on repairs and services
6. Training & Support
- Assist in training junior staff
- Share technical knowledge and procedures
7. General Duties
- Perform ad hoc workshop tasks
- Support overall workshop operations
- Cross-promote company services when needed
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 (Matric / NQF 4)
- N2 Certificate in Tractor Mechanic
Experience
- 2–5 years’ experience as a mechanic
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Mechanical systems
- Hydraulics
- Basic electrical systems
