Job Overview:
A mining client specializing in alternative drilling technologies is expanding their team and is seeking an experienced Maintenance Foreman to support one or more mining sites in the Free State. This role involves overseeing maintenance operations, staff, and ensuring safe, efficient equipment performance both underground and on the surface.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee maintenance & repair of mining equipment (e.g., rock drills, thrustlegs, etc.).

Supervise surface and underground installations.

Implement and manage preventative maintenance schedules.

Conduct regular inspections to prevent downtime.
-
Train mining crews on safe and efficient equipment use.

Monitor equipment performance and provide coaching.
-
Maintain accurate maintenance records and performance logs.
-
Ensure work adheres to company policies, health & safety, and compliance standards.

Manage critical and consumable spares inventory.
-
Lead and supervise all on-site personnel and functions.
-
Support asset management, project management, and OEE optimization.

Compile SOPs and ensure structured reporting.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Matric (Grade 12)
-
National Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering
OR
Red Seal Trade Test in Millwright, Fitter, or Electrician
(Preferably dual-skilled in mechanical and electrical) -
5+ years in a mining maintenance role

Proven leadership experience in maintenance team management

Skills in training and performance management of mining crews

Asset management and project management background
-
Strong knowledge of OEE, PPM, and risk management

Experience developing SOPs and formal reporting structures
-
Must be medically fit to work underground with a valid medical certificate
