    Job Overview:

    The Faculty of Law at the University of the Free State (UFS) is seeking a qualified and motivated Lecturer in Mercantile Law to join its Department of Mercantile Law. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervising legal research, producing publishable research outputs, and contributing to community engagement initiatives.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students in Mercantile Law.

    • Supervise LLB, LLM, LLD, or PhD students in research projects and dissertations.

    • Produce quality research outputs suitable for publication in accredited academic journals.

    • Participate in community engagement initiatives where applicable.

    Minimum Requirements:

    For Permanent Appointment:

    • LLD or PhD in Mercantile Law or a related legal discipline (NQF Level 10).

    For Contract Appointment (5 years):

    • Master’s degree in Mercantile Law or related legal discipline (NQF Level 9).

    • Must complete an LLD or PhD within the 5-year contract to be eligible for permanent conversion.

    Additional:

    • Proven experience presenting poster or oral presentations at conferences or academic forums.

    • Evidence of manuscripts with the potential for publication in accredited journals.

    • A strong academic record (attach full academic transcript).

    Recommendations:

    • Experience in postgraduate supervision.

    • Knowledge and academic background in Corporate Law or Labour Law.
