Job Overview
CBRE Excellerate is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to install, maintain, repair, and commission heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across various client sites in the Free State.
The successful candidate will work on a wide range of air-conditioning systems, including split units, cassette units, ducted systems, VRV systems, and packaged units. The role also involves fault finding, preventative maintenance, contractor coordination, digital reporting, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Decommission old HVAC systems and ensure safe disposal where required.
- Install, commission, and maintain new HVAC systems.
- Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
- Diagnose faults and troubleshoot HVAC system failures.
- Conduct technical assessments and prepare accurate reports.
- Provide clients with technical advice and maintenance updates.
- Complete digital job cards, supplier invoices, delivery notes, and maintenance reports using mobile applications.
- Obtain supplier quotations and coordinate work with contractors.
- Respond promptly to maintenance call-outs and emergency breakdowns.
- Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly site inspections in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Provide regular feedback to the Operations Manager, Administrator, and clients.
- Participate in standby duties and emergency call-out rotations.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric) with technical subjects.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an HVAC or air-conditioning environment.
- Basic electrical knowledge related to HVAC systems.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- Willingness to travel between client sites.
- Ability to use smartphones and mobile applications for job management and reporting.
Advantageous Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- A recognised Trade Test Certification in HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, or a related trade.
Technical Skills
Applicants should have experience working on:
- Split air-conditioning units.
- Cassette units.
- Ducted HVAC systems.
- VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) systems.
- Packaged air-conditioning systems.
Candidates should also demonstrate:
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to assess HVAC systems and prepare technical reports.
