Job Purpose:
To oversee and manage the full spectrum of human resources and labour relations within a dynamic transport and logistics environment. This strategic role is focused on ensuring full compliance with South African labour legislation, handling employee relations, and fostering a legally compliant and harmonious workplace. The role requires expert knowledge of HR strategy, industrial relations, and employee engagement within a fast-paced operational context.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end HR functions: recruitment, onboarding, performance management
Ensure legal compliance with labour legislation: BCEA, LRA, EEA, SDA, and related acts
Develop, review, and implement company HR policies and procedures
Lead disciplinary processes, grievance handling, and workplace investigations
Represent the company at CCMA and other dispute resolution forums
Oversee Employment Equity (EE) and Skills Development (SD) planning and compliance
Facilitate communication with unions and employee representatives
Align HR initiatives with broader operational objectives
Advise management on labour law and employee relations issues
Coordinate training, upskilling, and compliance programmes
Ensure POPIA-compliant handling and secure storage of employee records
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
LLB Degree with a focus on Labour Law
Admission as an attorney – advantageous
Experience:
5+ years in a senior HR or labour relations role
Experience within transport, logistics, or similar high-pressure operational sectors
Strong track record in union negotiations, CCMA representation, and labour law compliance
Skills Required:
In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation
Experience with CCMA procedures and dispute resolution
Excellent conflict resolution, communication, and negotiation skills
Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities
Ability to operate under pressure in a fast-paced, operational environment
