    Job Description

    Roadmac Surfacing Inland is looking for a qualified HSE Officer to support safe, compliant and hazard-free operations across its assigned sites.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and monitoring occupational health and safety standards, conducting site inspections and audits, managing workplace hazards and risks, maintaining safety records and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

    The role also involves working closely with employees, contractors, visitors, management and other stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture across the organisation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Implement, monitor and maintain company health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Support compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation.
    • Conduct regular site inspections and monthly audits.
    • Identify health and safety non-compliance and follow up on corrective actions.
    • Manage workplace hazards and risks on a daily basis.
    • Conduct and manage near-miss reporting.
    • Communicate risks and escalate safety concerns when necessary.
    • Ensure employees, contractors, visitors and management understand site-specific health and safety hazards and responsibilities.
    • Prepare site safety progress reports and audit reports.
    • Compile management reports and maintain accurate health and safety records.
    • Support toolbox talks and visible safety communication initiatives.
    • Assist with the annual review of health and safety policies.
    • Provide professional service to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assist with resolving health and safety concerns.
    • Maintain professionalism, accountability and effective teamwork.
    • Promote continuous improvement and safety awareness across assigned sites.

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
    • Relevant Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
    • Minimum 5 years’ industry experience.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Experience with health and safety information and reporting systems.
    • Working knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety legislation.
    • Knowledge of hazard identification and risk management.
    • SACPCMP HSE Registration – not a candidate registration.
