Role Overview:
The Forklift Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a forklift, assisting customers with excellent service, and maintaining high merchandising and housekeeping standards within the store. The role requires strict adherence to safety practices, accurate stock handling, and professional customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service

Greet customers and assist in identifying their needs.

Provide accurate product advice and deal with product-related queries.

Load customer purchases safely and without delay.
-
Handle customer complaints in a timely and helpful manner.

Promote add-on sales and inform customers about additional store services such as deliveries, special orders, plan reading, and credit programmes.
Merchandising
-
Ensure bulk stock areas are neatly merchandised according to store layout and planograms.

Maintain correct shelf labels and pricing.

Keep aisles fully stocked, tidy, and free of obstacles.
Housekeeping
-
Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area.
-
Complete canteen, toilet, and shower checklists when on duty.

Ensure stock is merchandised immediately upon receipt.
Safety & Loss Prevention

Adhere to forklift safety standards (no overloading, daily inspections, reporting faults).

Wear safety helmet, kidney belt, and protective gear where required.

Ensure safe access and exit for customers.

Report suspicious behaviour and prevent unauthorized loading of goods.

Key Requirements
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 or at least 1 year of related work experience

Valid forklift license
-
Ability to speak English + dominant local language

Ability to perform basic calculations
-
Physically fit to operate a forklift

Able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

Able to work under pressure
