 Overview

The Food Service Aid provides basic support in the preparation and serving of meals at AFB Bloemspruit.

This is a lowest-level entry position, ideal for candidates with minimal formal education and no prior work experience.

 Job Description

The role involves assisting in kitchen and dining operations, maintaining hygiene standards, preparing and serving food and drinks, and supporting food storage and cleanup activities.

The Food Service Aid ensures a safe, clean, and efficient food service environment.

 Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Service

• Prepare, cook, and serve food hygienically

• Prepare and serve tea, coffee, and drinks

• Set and decorate tables for dining

• Wait on tables and serve meals

Hygiene & Maintenance

• Keep kitchen, dining hall, and food storage areas clean and tidy

• Remove kitchen waste and clean up after meals

• Ensure only authorized personnel access the kitchen

• Monitor serviceability of kitchen equipment and report defects

Inventory & Safety

• Pack supplies received in food storage areas

• Apply high hygiene and safety standards in all tasks

 Minimum Requirements

• ABET qualification (or equivalent basic education)

• No work experience required

Skills & Knowledge

• Basic understanding of food preparation and kitchen operations

• Ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene

• Organisational and basic planning skills
