    Job Description

    The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene at SAPS premises. The successful candidate will clean offices, bathrooms, kitchens, and surrounding areas, handle cleaning materials safely, and assist with loading and unloading goods while ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Cleaning and Hygiene

    • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene within SAPS premises.
    • Clean offices, corridors, and other work areas.
    • Dust furniture and clean floors.
    • Mop tiled floors.
    • Clean bathrooms and ablution facilities.
    • Clean kitchens, kitchenware, and utensils.

    Waste Management

    • Remove and dispose of refuse bags.
    • Keep indoor and outdoor areas clean and tidy.

    Handling Cleaning Materials

    • Safely use and store cleaning detergents and materials.
    • Ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained and stored.

    General Support

    • Load and unload goods when required.
    • Perform cleaning duties in both indoor and outdoor areas.
    • Work extended hours when operationally required.

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants must have:

    • ABET Level 4, Grade 9, Standard 7, or an equivalent NQF Level 1 qualification recognised by SAQA.
    • Be proficient in English and at least one other official South African language.
    • Be a South African citizen (documentary proof must be provided).

    Knowledge Requirements

    Applicants should have knowledge of:

    • Cleaning detergents and their safe handling.
    • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures.
    • Basic cleaning methods and hygiene standards.
    • Safe use of cleaning equipment.
