    This role focuses on operating and controlling plant processes to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production.

     Job Description

    As a Chemical Plant Controller, you will monitor and operate plant systems, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining strict safety, quality, and operational standards. You’ll play a critical role in keeping the plant running smoothly.

     Key Responsibilities

     Plant Operations

    • Operate and control plant equipment and processes
    • Monitor system performance and production outputs
    • Participate in shift handovers and daily operations

     Monitoring & Reporting

    • Provide feedback to supervisors on plant performance
    • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • Identify and report issues affecting production

     Safety & Compliance

    • Conduct risk assessments and follow safety procedures
    • Maintain housekeeping and waste disposal standards
    • Participate in emergency response situations

     Training & Development

    • Coach and mentor junior staff and learners
    • Contribute to training materials and modules
    • Identify personal training needs and development plans

     Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

    • Work closely with different departments
    • Participate in toolbox talks and safety discussions
    • Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency

     Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science
    • Occupational Trade Certificate (NQF Level 4)
    • Minimum 2 years experience as a plant operator in a refinery

     Required Experience (Any of These Units)

    You must have worked in at least one of the following:

    • Crude & Vacuum Units (CDU/VDU)
    • Fluid Catalytic Cracker (FCC)
    • Hydrotreater (Diesel, Naphtha, AR)
    • Hydrocracker / Hydrogen Unit
    • Alkylation or Platformer
    • Utilities / Tank Farm / Product Dispatch
    • Wastewater or Sulfur Recovery
