    Purpose of the Position:

    To manage and oversee the full operations of a retail butchery department, ensuring profitability, compliance, staff performance, hygiene standards, and customer satisfaction. This is a senior role within Delthorn’s retail butchery chain.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a butchery environment

    • Hands-on meat cutting and butchery management experience (essential)

    • Proven ability to manage and lead a team of 10–15 staff members

    • Valid South African driver’s license

    • Contactable and recent references

    • Basic computer literacy (Excel, Word, Internet)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and motivate a team of butchery staff to deliver on quality and service standards

    • Sales & Profit: Drive sales and ensure achievement of gross profit targets

    • Operations: Oversee daily butchery operations including cutting, packing, merchandising, and general store hygiene

    • Hygiene & Compliance: Maintain high standards of hygiene in line with food safety regulations

    • Customer Service: Ensure excellent customer service and develop customer relationships

    • Stock & Expense Control: Monitor and control expenses, reduce wastage, and manage inventory levels efficiently

    • Growth & Development: Identify opportunities to increase sales and improve operational efficiency
