Job Overview
The Broker Consultant is responsible for recruiting, developing, and supporting brokers to achieve set production targets and grow market share.
This role focuses on broker acquisition, training, ongoing support, market development, and ensuring compliance with FSCA and FAIS regulations. The position requires a combination of relationship management, sales acumen, and regulatory knowledge within the long-term insurance sector.
Job Description
Sales & Marketing Strategy

Develop and implement an integrated sales and marketing plan.

Monitor progress and compile reports on plan execution.
Broker Recruitment
-
Source and select appropriate brokers to expand distribution channels.

Prepare and submit broker documentation for approval to the CCC.
Broker Support & Administration
-
Ensure brokers have necessary documentation and systems for operations.

Handle administrative queries on behalf of brokers.
-
Review and advise on brokers’ business practices.

Keep brokers updated on products and services.

Build and maintain professional business relationships with brokers.
Training & Development

Facilitate product and skills training for brokers and sub-agents.

Maintain records of all training interventions and share with Head Office.

Support broker development to enhance production and performance.
Market Development & Retention

Identify and develop new markets.

Negotiate stop-order markets.
-
Maintain relationships with key decision-makers in the insurance industry.

Retain and grow market share in existing markets.

Conduct product presentations to increase awareness and sales.
Production Targets & Performance

Ensure brokers meet set production targets.

Monitor performance and support achievement of business retention goals.
Minimum Requirements
Education
-
Matric (Grade 12).
-
Diploma/Degree or Long-Term Insurance qualification recognised by the FSCA.
Regulatory & Technical Requirements
-
Regulatory Examination Level 1: Representatives (required).

Regulatory Examination Level 1: Key Individual (advantageous).
Experience
-
2 years project management experience.
-
2 years experience in the long-term insurance industry.
-
At least 1 year advice and intermediary experience in categories A, B, C, and retail benefits.

1 year management experience in the insurance industry.
