Job Overview:
FARMOVS, a leading clinical research organization based at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, is seeking a Bioanalyst to join its chemical laboratory team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting clinical trials by developing and validating bioanalytical methods, analysing biological samples, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong technical skills in LC-MS/MS and bioanalytical method validation, who is passionate about scientific excellence and global healthcare innovation.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of biological samples (e.g., plasma, serum, urine) using LC-MS/MS

Develop and validate bioanalytical methods according to FDA, ICH, and GLP guidelines

Review and interpret data, troubleshoot analytical challenges, and ensure precision and accuracy

Maintain detailed documentation of all experiments and analyses

Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments

Participate in audits and ensure adherence to quality systems and safety protocols
Required Competencies:

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Proficiency in LC-MS/MS and HPLC techniques

Familiarity with GLP, FDA, and ICH M10 bioanalytical method validation guidelines

Excellent written and verbal communication

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
Qualifications & Experience:
-
BSc (Hons) or MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field
(A diploma in medical technology or laboratory sciences may be considered with relevant experience) -
Minimum 3 years of experience in a bioanalytical or chemical laboratory (preferably in a CRO or regulated environment)

Proven experience in method validation for clinical or preclinical studies

Proficiency with lab data systems and software (e.g., Analyst, SCIEX OS, MassLynx, MassHunter, Watson LIMS)
