    Farm Manager SA is seeking a competent and experienced Beef Farm Manager to oversee cattle, sheep, and cropping operations on a production-focused farm in the Free State. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in daily livestock management, pasture and field operations, staff supervision, and general farm maintenance. This position requires strong stockmanship, hands-on management ability, and a proactive, ownership-driven work ethic.

     Key Responsibilities

    Livestock Management

    • Manage day-to-day operations of beef cattle and sheep production.

    • Oversee feeding, health, breeding, calving/lambing, and general herd/flock welfare.

    • Implement best practices for stock handling, disease prevention, and record-keeping.

    • Monitor grazing and pasture use to maximise productivity.

    Cropping & Field Management

    • Oversee planting, cultivating, and harvesting of crops.

    • Manage irrigation, soil preparation, and field maintenance.

    • Coordinate inputs, scheduling, and production planning.

    Staff Leadership & Management

    • Supervise, motivate, and train farm workers.

    • Delegate tasks and ensure adherence to farm procedures and welfare standards.

    • Promote teamwork, accountability, and productivity.

    Farm Maintenance & Operations

    • Ensure upkeep of equipment, fences, infrastructure, and machinery.

    • Perform or oversee repairs, maintenance, and operational improvements.

    • Maintain accurate farm records and coordinate with management.

     Minimum Requirements

    • Agricultural Diploma or Degree (advantageous).

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in cattle and sheep management.

    • Experience in cropping/field management.

    • Strong computer literacy.

    • Excellent stockmanship and understanding of livestock health and production.

    • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage farm staff.

    • Honest, hardworking, and able to work independently with an ownership mentality.

    • Strong leadership and communication abilities.

    • Ability to speak South Sotho (advantageous).

    • Maintenance-orientated with hands-on repair and operational skills.

    • Valid driver’s license.
