Job Description
The Mechanic Apprentice will work alongside qualified mechanics to develop practical mechanical skills through structured on-the-job training. The role provides exposure to vehicle and machinery maintenance, diagnostics, workshop operations, and safe working practices while preparing the apprentice for a formal mechanical trade qualification.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Support
- Assist qualified mechanics with servicing, maintaining, and repairing vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
- Gain practical experience in mechanical diagnostics and repairs under supervision.
- Learn to operate workshop tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Complete assigned mechanical tasks as part of the apprenticeship programme.
Training and Development
- Participate in structured workplace training.
- Maintain an up-to-date apprenticeship training logbook.
- Register for and complete the formal mechanical apprenticeship programme.
- Develop technical knowledge and practical skills required for trade testing.
Workshop Operations
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures.
- Contribute to efficient workshop operations and teamwork.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- A genuine interest in mechanics, agricultural machinery, or technical work.
- Willingness to register for and complete a formal mechanical apprenticeship.
Advantageous Qualifications and Experience
The following will be beneficial:
- Mathematics and Physical Science as school subjects.
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Previous workshop exposure or mechanical experience.
