    Job Description

    The Assistant Silo Manager is responsible for providing operational and administrative support to the Silo Manager to ensure the profitable and efficient management of the silo. The role includes monitoring grain quality, supervising silo operations, maintaining inventory, supporting staff coordination, and delivering excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Silo Operations

    • Monitor the continuous flow of grain through the silo.
    • Operate the silo according to VKB Group policies and operational procedures.
    • Ensure grain handling processes comply with safety standards.
    • Monitor grain tube temperatures and report deviations promptly.
    • Measure grain tubes according to company policies and safety regulations.
    • Ensure continuous grain protection through fumigation.

    Inventory Management

    • Assist with inventory management and stock control.
    • Monitor grain quantities and storage conditions.
    • Support accurate record-keeping and reporting.

    Management Support

    • Assist the Silo Manager with daily operational activities.
    • Act as the communication link between the Silo Manager and the silo team.
    • Support the coordination of staff and operational activities.
    • Contribute to achieving organisational, operational, and strategic objectives.

    Customer Service

    • Provide professional customer service to producers and stakeholders.
    • Assist with customer enquiries relating to grain deliveries and silo operations.

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants must have:

    • Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4 qualification.
    • 1–3 years of proven management experience within the grain industry.
    • Completion of all relevant grain grading and silo operating courses.
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
