Job Description
This role is part of the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP), aimed at developing future academic leaders in South Africa.
The successful candidate will be responsible for lecturing, developing academic content, conducting research, and contributing to community engagement within the Built Environment field.
The position combines teaching, research, and academic development, making it ideal for someone pursuing a long-term academic career.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Develop study material for assigned subjects
- Deliver lectures across relevant programmes
- Conduct student assessments and evaluations
Research
- Engage in academic research activities
- Contribute to publications and innovation in the Built Environment field
Administration & Organisation
- Perform academic administration duties
- Manage and organise course-related activities
Community Engagement
- Participate in community-based projects
- Contribute to the university’s outreach initiatives

Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Built Environment (e.g., Construction Management, Quantity Surveying)
- Undergraduate qualification in a related field
- Minimum 70% average in highest qualification
- At least 2 years’ teaching or industry experience
Preferred (Advantageous)
- Progress towards a Doctoral degree
- Research publications or innovation experience
- Professional registration (e.g., SACQSP, SACPCMP or similar)
