Job Description
The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all receiving operations are completed accurately, safely, and efficiently.
The role includes:
- Supervising warehouse staff
- Monitoring inbound deliveries
- Managing discrepancies and damages
- Ensuring compliance with safety procedures
- Improving receiving workflows
- Supporting inventory accuracy
Key Responsibilities
Receiving and Inventory Control
- Conduct blind checks on inbound stock.
- Verify goods against documentation and system records.
- Monitor discrepancies, shortages, and damaged stock.
- Maintain accurate receiving and inventory records.
Team Supervision
- Supervise warehouse operators and receiving staff.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and training.
- Manage attendance, leave, and team scheduling.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly team meetings.
Logistics and Workflow Management
- Monitor truck turnaround times.
- Improve receiving workflows and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate batched receiving activities.
- Ensure receiving operations meet required timelines.
Compliance and Safety
- Enforce PPE and safety compliance.
- Ensure proper handling of fragile or sensitive items.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Operate according to safety standards.
Collaboration and Reporting
- Work with:
- Inventory control teams
- Quality assurance teams
- Suppliers
- Other departments
- Prepare receiving and operational reports.
- Coordinate stock returns and supplier claims when necessary.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- FMCG retail experience preferred.
