    Job Description

    The Regional Court Control Prosecutor is a senior prosecutorial role responsible for managing and supervising prosecutors in Regional and District Courts.

    The role involves guiding legal processes, studying case dockets, initiating criminal proceedings, and ensuring effective prosecution of complex criminal cases. The position also includes leadership, training, and performance oversight of junior prosecutors.

    The role requires strong legal expertise, management ability, and independence in decision-making within the criminal justice system.

    Responsibilities

    Leadership and Supervision

    • Manage, train, and guide prosecutors
    • Assist in performance assessment of staff
    • Provide mentorship and professional development support
    • Ensure efficient workflow in prosecution teams

    Case Management and Legal Decision-Making

    • Study case dockets and decide on prosecution
    • Initiate and conduct criminal proceedings in Regional and District Courts
    • Handle maintenance matters and inquest cases
    • Ensure proper case preparation for court

    Court Representation and Prosecution

    • Present the State’s case in court
    • Lead and cross-examine witnesses
    • Address court on conviction and sentencing matters
    • Conduct complex prosecutions on behalf of the State

    Legal Documentation

    • Draft charge sheets and court documents
    • Prepare legal proceedings for trial
    • Ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards

    Administrative Duties

    • Perform general office administrative functions
    • Support management with operational tasks
    • Ensure compliance with NPA policies and procedures

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Promote cooperation within the criminal justice system
    • Support community involvement initiatives
    • Enhance customer and stakeholder satisfaction in justice services

    Requirements

    Educational Requirements

    • Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
    • OR appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion

    Experience Requirements

    • Minimum of 6 years post-qualification legal experience
