Job Purpose
The Lecturer: BCom in Entrepreneurship is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning in Entrepreneurship-related modules, supporting student success, facilitating assessments, monitoring academic performance, and contributing to the academic excellence of the programme.
The successful candidate will engage students through effective teaching practices, provide academic support, identify at-risk students, and assist with programme quality assurance and academic development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver lectures according to module specifications and academic schedules.
- Facilitate student learning and participation in Entrepreneurship modules.
- Prepare and present learning material in line with curriculum requirements.
- Ensure teaching is aligned with module pacers and academic standards.
Student Support
- Identify and support students who may be academically at risk.
- Provide academic guidance and consultation to students.
- Encourage student engagement and participation.
- Assist students in achieving learning outcomes and academic success.
Assessment and Evaluation
- Prepare students for assignments, tests, and examinations.
- Develop assessments in collaboration with the Central Academic Team.
- Mark assessments and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Monitor assessment submissions and escalate concerns when required.
Learning Management System Administration
- Upload learning materials and resources.
- Update academic information on digital learning platforms.
- Maintain communication with students through the learning management system.
- Ensure accurate academic records are maintained.
Academic Administration
- Monitor module progress and completion.
- Participate in academic and faculty meetings.
- Maintain assessment and student performance records.
- Support academic quality assurance processes.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Analyse module results and student performance trends.
- Identify underperforming students and modules.
- Support intervention strategies to improve academic outcomes.
- Assist Programme Coordinators with monitoring and reporting responsibilities.
Academic Professional Development
- Participate in academic training and development initiatives.
- Stay updated with developments in Entrepreneurship education and industry trends.
- Contribute to improving teaching and learning practices.
- Enhance personal academic and professional standing.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Honours Degree or Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurship.
- Qualification must be at least one NQF level higher than the qualification being taught.
- Academic transcript must be submitted with the application.
Experience
- 2 to 3 years of lecturing or formal tutoring experience.
- 1 to 3 years of industry-related experience in Entrepreneurship, Business Development, Innovation, or Small Business Management will be advantageous.
